School to start on time Tuesday January 16th.
Good afternoon,
Over the course of the next few days, we will likely continue with a wind chill advisory in our area. As stated in our weather considerations email sent previously, a wind chill of -25 to -34 is when we begin to consider delaying or canceling school. At this point, if we were to start on time or delay tomorrow (Tuesday, January 16th), we do not anticipate much of a change in the wind chill or road conditions over that period of time.
Therefore, it is our intention to start school on time tomorrow and for the remainder of the week. If factors change (wind chill warning is issued, road conditions worsen, any potential bus mechanical issues, etc…), we will update families at that time.
Student drivers:
High school student drivers need to be extra careful as many do not have as much experience driving in these types of icy road conditions. If you plan on having students drive to school, please have your student drivers go out and clean off their cars and start them today in order to make sure they do not have issues in the morning. As we all know, cars will need to warm up, so students will need to get moving earlier in the morning. Roadways and intersections are likely to remain ice covered this week, so they will need to take their time and drive carefully. Adjusting routines so that students can arrive safely and on time is an important skill to learn as we work together to prepare them to be career and life ready.
For our younger students:
It is unlikely that we will go out for recess this week, but we still ask that students are dressed warm enough to transition in and out of the building. When weather conditions improve and students go out for recess, they should have the appropriate outerwear.
For bus riders:
Make sure students are dressed appropriately to wait outside and to ride on the bus. It will be colder than normal on the buses and we want to make sure students are prepared for the ride.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work through this roller coaster of a Wisconsin winter!
